BSTC Aur B.Ed Sath Me Kar Sakte Hai?

BSTC aur B.Ed sath me kar sakte hai? · UGC rules

Can I do BSTC and BEd together (BSTC and B.Ed at once)? In practice, no. UGC’s April 2022 guidelines allow two programmes at once only if the full-time timings do not overlap, or if one is by distance or online mode from a recognised institution, and NCTE rules also apply. This page explains what is allowed, what is not and the safe order of courses.

  • Two full-time: no overlap

Can I do BSTC and BEd together? Quick answer

Quick answer

BSTC and B.Ed together: not practical. BSTC with a degree such as BSc: possible if the degree is by open or distance mode from a recognised institution, or if the timings do not overlap. Always check the NCTE rules and the college.

What do the UGC guidelines say about two courses at once?

The UGC’s “Guidelines for Pursuing Two Academic Programmes Simultaneously” (April 2022) say:

  • A student can pursue two full-time programmes in physical mode if the class timings of one do not overlap with the other.
  • A student can pursue one full-time programme and one in open and distance learning (ODL) or online mode, or up to two ODL or online programmes.
  • ODL or online degrees and diplomas must be from institutions recognised by the UGC, a statutory council or the government.
  • The programmes are governed by the UGC regulations and by the respective statutory or professional councils.

The last point is the one that matters for BSTC. D.El.Ed and B.Ed are NCTE programmes, so NCTE rules also apply.

BSTC with other courses: case table

Case Status Note
BSTC (full time) + BSc or BA by ODL Allowed by UGC if the ODL institute is recognised Check with the college
BSTC (full time) + regular full-time degree Only if timings never overlap Hard in practice
BSTC (full time) + B.Ed (full time) Both need daily classes and practice teaching Not practical; no rule approves it
BSTC first, graduation later, then B.Ed Sequential path The safe way
B.Ed first, then BSTC Possible if you still meet the age and marks rules Age is the usual barrier

The safe order of courses

  1. Class 12Join BSTC if you meet BSTC eligibility 2026.
  2. During BSTCIf you want a degree, ask the college whether an ODL degree is fine with its timetable.
  3. After BSTCFinish graduation and, if you want upper classes, apply for B.Ed through PTET. See BSTC vs PTET.
  4. Before recruitmentRead the advertisement for the qualification it asks. See BSTC vs B.Ed.

What to check before you join two courses

  • Written attendance rule of the BSTC college.
  • Whether the second course’s institute is recognised by UGC or the relevant council.
  • Whether the timings overlap on every day of the week.
  • Whether your future employer accepts both qualifications.
  • That nobody asks you to hide the second enrolment. A false declaration can cancel your admission.

What the UGC guidelines do not decide

The guidelines are about higher education and UGC-recognised programmes. They do not decide whether a Rajasthan teacher-training institute will let you study another course, whether the school-practice calendar will clash, or whether a future recruiter will accept both qualifications. Those depend on NCTE rules, the college and the advertisement. That is why we advise you to get answers in writing before you enrol in two courses.

Quick decision table

Plan Advice
I want to do BSTC and an open-mode degree Usually fine; confirm the open-mode institute is recognised and get the college’s view in writing
I want BSTC and B.Ed at once Do not plan on it
I want a degree first, then BSTC Check the age limit of 28
I want BSTC then B.Ed Safe order; graduate first

BSTC with another course: FAQs

Can I do BSTC and B.Ed together?

Not in practice. The UGC guidelines of April 2022 allow two full-time programmes in physical mode only if their class timings do not overlap, and other rules of the statutory council also apply. Two teacher-training courses that both need daily classes and school internship will clash. We found no Rajasthan rule that approves it.

Can I do BSTC and BSc together?

Yes in one way: BSTC full time and a BSc through open and distance learning from a UGC-recognised institution. The UGC guidelines allow one full-time programme with one ODL or online programme. Two full-time courses are allowed only if their timings do not overlap.

Is it possible to do two degrees at the same time in India?

Yes, under the UGC guidelines on pursuing two academic programmes simultaneously (April 2022), subject to the conditions listed above and the rules of statutory councils such as NCTE.

Can I do B.Ed after BSTC?

Yes, in sequence. After BSTC you can complete graduation and then join the 2-year B.Ed through PTET if you meet its rules. See BSTC vs PTET.

Can I do BSTC after B.Ed?

Only if you still meet the BSTC rules: Class 12 with the required marks and age 28 or less on the exam date. Many B.Ed holders are above the age limit unless a relaxation applies. See BSTC eligibility 2026.

Do UGC rules apply to BSTC?

The UGC guidelines apply to higher education institutions and UGC-recognised programmes, and they say that programmes are also governed by the regulations of the statutory or professional council. BSTC (D.El.Ed) is an NCTE programme, so check NCTE and the college. We found no sentence in the 2026 Pre D.El.Ed notification that addresses this.

Can I study BSTC while doing a government job?

We did not find a verified rule for this case, so we do not give an answer. Check with your employer and the college.

Will attendance be a problem if I do two courses?

Teacher-training courses need regular attendance and school practice. We did not verify the exact percentage in this session, so ask your college for the written attendance rule before you accept a seat.
