RBSE Checking Strict Hoti Hai? Marking Explained

RBSE checking and marking · What is known

Does RBSE do hard checking? No source we found measures it, so we do not call the checking strict or lenient. What is documented is the marking scheme in the board syllabus, the scrutiny rules in the March 2026 circular, and the pass percentage for each year. This page sets those facts out and says plainly what they can and cannot tell you.

Does RBSE do hard checking? The honest answer

Quick answer

We cannot say that RBSE checks strictly or leniently, because no source we found measures it. The documented facts are the marking scheme, the scrutiny rules and the pass percentages. Marks can go up or down after scrutiny.

If you want to know whether your own marks are right, the process is in RBSE revaluation aur scrutiny 2026.

The RBSE marking scheme: how marks are split

Subjects Time Theory Sessional Practical Total
Most Class 12 subjects (Hindi, English, Economics, Political Science, History) 3 hours 15 minutes 80 20 None 100
Science subjects with a practical (Physics, Chemistry) 3 hours 15 minutes for theory; 4 hours for the Chemistry practical 56 14 30 100
Computer Science, Informatics Practices 3 hours 15 minutes 56 (unit marks add up to 56) 14 (our inference: 100 less 56 less 30) 30 100

Source: the board’s Class 12 syllabus PDF for 2025-26. The pass rule is covered in RBSE passing marks. The 20 sessional marks come from the school; some summaries list class test, project work, attendance and behaviour, but we did not find that split in the board scheme. The English paper shows how the board splits marks inside a paper: reading 15, writing 14, grammar 10, and the textbooks 41 (Flamingo prose 13, poetry 12 and Vistas 16). A different split, with grammar 8 and writing 15, is printed on one education site, so the board PDF is the one to trust.

Example: the Class 12 Chemistry paper

The 56 theory marks are split by unit: Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, and Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers carry 6 each; Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids 7; d- and f-block, Coordination Compounds and Amines 5 each; Biomolecules 4. Add 14 sessional marks and 30 practical marks for 100 (board syllabus PDF, 2025-26). A student can see exactly how many marks one weak unit can cost.

How the copies are checked

We could not open a board manual for evaluation, so we do not describe how examiners are chosen or how marks are moderated. What the board says after the result is the scrutiny rule: in the March 2026 circular, the board states that re-examination of answer sheets is not included in scrutiny under Rule 13(5) of Chapter 16 of the Rajasthan Secondary Education Regulations, 1957. In other words, once an examiner has marked an answer, scrutiny does not mark it again.

About the circular

The circular PDF uses an old Hindi font. We matched its content with the Times of India and Rajasthan news reports. Check the text on the board site before you apply.

What scrutiny can change

Case Covered by scrutiny?
Difference between the total in the answer sheet and the total in the record Yes
Inside and outside mark differences Yes
Errors in adding marks Yes
A question that was not given any marks Yes
An answer marked too low in the examiner’s view No: that is re-examination, which the circular says is not part of scrutiny
Marks from the school’s sessional record No: not checked by this process

Pass percentages, 2022 to 2026

Year Class 10 overall Class 12 Arts Class 12 Science Class 12 Commerce
2026 94.23 97.54 97.52 93.64
2025 93.60 97.78 98.43 99.07
2024 93.03 96.88 97.73 98.95
2023 90.49 92.35 95.65 96.60
2022 82.89 Not shown Not shown Not shown

Sources: Times of India, Indian Express, ABP Live and NDTV, as compiled in RBSE 10th class result 2026 and RBSE 12th result 2026. The 2023 Class 10 figure of 90.49 follows the Times of India headline; ABP Live printed 90.59.

How to read the numbers without jumping to conclusions

  • Class 10 rose every year from 2022 to 2026 (82.89 to 94.23). That is a trend in results, not proof about the checking. The pandemic years, the paper pattern and preparation also changed.
  • Class 12 Commerce fell by 5.43 points in 2026 (99.07 to 93.64). No source we found explains it, so we do not guess.
  • Near full marks happen. In 2026 reports named a Class 10 student with 599 of 600 and Class 12 students with 499 of 500 (see RBSE topper list 2026). That shows high marks are possible, not that checking is lenient.

Scrutiny changes: a Times of India report on the March 2026 rules says the board advised students that changes happen in only a small number of cases. We found no number for how many marks changed in 2026 or earlier.

The new paper pattern from 2026-27

ETV Bharat reported on 15 November 2025 that papers from 2026-27 follow the CBSE pattern: more source-based, case-based and passage questions, fewer multiple-choice and very short ones, and 4 or 5 mark questions with a choice. The sessional scheme stays the same. Old pass percentages may therefore not carry over; see RBSE kya hai.

What we could not find

  • The board’s own manual for evaluating answer sheets.
  • The number of scrutiny applications and how many changed marks in any year.
  • An official rule on grace marks. We found none, so we do not state one.
  • The split of the 20 sessional marks from the board itself.
  • Any official statement on hard or soft checking.

RBSE checking FAQs

Does RBSE do hard checking?

There is no official measure of strict or lenient checking, and we found none published. What we can show is the official marking scheme, the scrutiny rules and the pass percentages for 2022 to 2026, and none of them proves how hard a copy is checked.

How are RBSE answer sheets checked?

Examiners check them against the marking scheme. We could not open the board’s evaluation instructions, so we do not describe the internal process. After the result, scrutiny checks totals and missing marks, not the answers; see RBSE revaluation aur scrutiny 2026.

Is the pass percentage a sign of lenient checking?

Not by itself. It also depends on the paper, preparation, the number of candidates and the marks rule. In 2026 the Class 10 pass percentage was 94.23 and the Class 12 Commerce figure fell from 99.07 to 93.64, and no source explains the fall.

What is the RBSE marking scheme?

Most Class 12 subjects have a 3 hour 15 minute paper of 80 marks plus 20 sessional marks. Science subjects such as Chemistry have a 56-mark paper, 14 sessional marks and 30 practical marks. See the table below.

Can I get my RBSE copy checked again?

You can apply for scrutiny, which checks totals and missing marks, and for a scanned copy. A full re-examination of answers is not part of scrutiny. In 2026 Class 10 students were also offered a re-check of specific questions in English, Science and Maths. See RBSE revaluation aur scrutiny 2026.

Do marks go down after scrutiny?

They can. The board rules say marks may increase or decrease and the fee is not refunded. Apply only if you have a reason.

Is there data on how many marks change after scrutiny?

We found no published figure. A Times of India report quotes the board as saying changes happen in only a small number of cases, but it gives no number.

Are internal marks given by the school?

The 20 sessional marks are internal. The board lists parts such as class test, project work, attendance and behaviour in some summaries, but we could not confirm the split from the board’s own scheme document.
