Who is RBSE?
RBSE is a statutory body. It is not a coaching company, a university or a department that changes with each government. The Rajasthan Secondary Education Act, 1957 created it, and the Act lists its duties. Its public face in 2026 was the Board Secretary, Gajendra Singh Rathore, who is quoted in news on the supplementary and fee decisions, and the state education minister, who announced the 2026 results at the board headquarters in Ajmer (Careers360).

What the board does
Section 9 of the Act lists the board’s duties. In plain words, the board:
- prescribes the courses of study for its classes;
- conducts and publishes the examinations;
- grants certificates and marksheets;
- recognises schools and institutions, which then apply through its affiliation portals;
- admits candidates to its exams and receives the fees;
- awards scholarships and medals, for example the merit scholarship rules listed on its main page.
The board also issues duplicate documents and corrections through the board’s duplicate documents and corrections page, as explained in RBSE marksheet download and correction.

How the RBSE exam system works
| Part | How it works |
|---|---|
| Exam time | One annual exam in February to March; Class 10 in 2026 ran from 12 to 28 February and Class 12 from 12 February to 11 March |
| Paper length | 3 hours 15 minutes for the main papers (board Class 12 syllabus PDF) |
| Marks split | Most subjects: 80 theory plus 20 sessional (internal) marks. Science subjects such as Chemistry: 56 theory plus 14 sessional, and 30 practical |
| Pass rule | 33 per cent in each subject, as reported; see RBSE passing marks |
| Failed in a subject? | The supplementary exam in May; see RBSE supplementary exam 2026 |
| Check marks | Scrutiny after the result; see RBSE revaluation aur scrutiny 2026 |
The 80 plus 20 split and the 3 hours 15 minutes come from the board’s 2025-26 Class 12 syllabus. The Hindi compulsory paper, for example, is 80 theory plus 20 sessional marks. For how the marks are checked, see RBSE checking aur marking.
Books and syllabus: NCERT or Rajasthan own?
The board publishes its syllabus on the board’s syllabus page, for Classes 9 to 12 and for 2026 and 2027. In the Class 12 syllabus for 2025-26 many subjects name NCERT books, for example Flamingo and Vistas for English, the Microeconomics and Macroeconomics books for Economics, the Political Science books, and the Accountancy books. The same syllabus names the board’s own book for Public Administration.
The syllabus PDF is large and in a font that is not always machine readable, so we read the tables and subject lines we could, not every page. Use the board’s Class 12 syllabus PDF for 2025-26 for the exact unit marks of your subject.

What is changing from 2026-27
Three changes were reported for the 2026-27 session. First, a two-exam pattern for Class 10, with a compulsory first exam and a second exam to improve up to three subjects, as reported by the Indian Express and Jagran Josh. Second, question papers based on the CBSE pattern, with more source-based, case-based and passage questions and fewer multiple-choice and very short questions, as reported by ETV Bharat on 15 November 2025. Third, a rise in the exam fee from Rs 600 (regular) and Rs 650 (private) to Rs 850 for both, and Rs 100 to Rs 200 per practical subject, from the same report. We could not open the board’s own notice for these, so treat them as reported. The 2027 date sheet is not out yet; see RBSE result kab aayega 2026.
