Grades and passing marks
Class 8 results are shown as grades. A student needs at least 33 per cent in each subject to pass, and a grade of D or above counts as a pass (Times of India).
| Grade | Marks range | Students in 2026 | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 81 to 100 | 2,62,026 | 20.41% |
| B | 61 to 80 | 7,06,775 | 55.04% |
| C | 41 to 60 | 2,75,507 | 21.46% |
| D | 33 to 40 | 1,427 | 0.11% |
| E (supplementary) | 0 to 32 | 38,276 | 2.98% |
The counts add up to the 12,84,011 declared results. Most students (55 per cent) got B. Only 1,427 students got a bare pass with D.
Supplementary (E grade) students
The 38,276 students with an E grade were placed in the supplementary category. A third-party guide says the supplementary time table was issued on 19 June 2026 for exams from 20 to 25 July 2026. We could not read the official time table page, which loaded empty, so treat those dates as unconfirmed. The official 5th and 8th module has a separate “Supplementary Exam Result” link, which we found but could not open while checking. Passing students move to Class 9.
If your 8th result is withheld
In 2026 the results of 2,209 Class 8 students (0.17 per cent) were withheld “pending procedural clearance” (Indian Express). If your child is among them, the form may show no result. Ask the school to check the application data and the roll number, and keep the admit card. The board or the school office is the only place that can release it.
Pass percentage trend
| Year | Pass percentage | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 97.01% | 12,86,220 registered; 38,276 supplementary |
| 2025 | 96.66% | 12,64,618 appeared, 12,22,369 passed (Hindustan Times) |
| 2024 | 95.72% | 12,50,800 appeared, 11,97,321 passed (Times of India) |
Some outlets list different numbers for 2025 and 2024 because they mix the Class 5 and Class 8 figures. We used the totals that matched the counts of students.
What next after Class 8?
Students who pass move to Class 9, as the Times of India reports. Collect the original marksheet from the school, keep the provisional scorecard and write down the NIC ID shown on the school record: the Shala Darpan student services use it. If you are a Class 8 student looking for scholarships, the portal homepage shows NMMS 2026 applications on the Shala Darpan portal from 30 October to 30 November 2026. Read the official notice before applying.

What the 8th scorecard shows
The online result is a provisional scorecard. The Indian Express says it carries the student name, roll number, class, subject-wise marks, total marks, grade and pass or fail status, and that the original marksheet is issued by the board and distributed through schools. Times of India adds that the exam ran at 10,056 centres in 2026. Because grades, not an aggregate percentage, decide the outcome, do not convert the marks into a percentage for admission forms unless the next school asks for it.
| Part of the scorecard | What you will see |
|---|---|
| Student details | Name, roll number, class |
| Subject-wise result | Marks and grade for each subject |
| Overall status | Pass, or supplementary if any subject has grade E |
| Document status | Provisional: the school hands out the original marksheet |
Government and private school students in 2026
| School type | Students with results | Share (our arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|
| Government schools | 7,07,401 | About 55% of declared results |
| Private schools | 5,76,610 | About 45% of declared results |
| Total declared | 12,84,011 | 2,209 more were withheld |
The 2026 release does not give pass percentages by school type, so we do not compare them. In 2024 Times of India reported 94.54 per cent for government schools and 97.38 per cent for private schools in Class 8. That is a different year, so use it only as background.
Boys and girls: the gap
| Year | Boys | Girls | Gap (our arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 96.52% | 97.57% | 1.05 points |
| 2024 | 95.14% | 96.39% | 1.25 points |
Girls led in both years. We left 2025 out because the reports we found gave inconsistent gender figures.

Result-day checklist for parents
- Keep the admit card, roll number and application number together before you open the page.
- Check the result only on the official page, never through a forwarded file.
- Download the scorecard once and store the PDF with the school documents.
- Compare the name and date of birth with the school record and report mistakes the same week.
- If a subject shows E, ask the school about the supplementary exam form and the last date.
- Keep the original marksheet safe once the school gives it. Class 10 and 12 have an official duplicate process (see RBSE marksheet download and correction), but we found no official duplicate process for Class 8.

| Application number | The number from the online exam form filled on the school login. |
| NIC-SD code and PSP code | School codes: NIC-SD for government schools on Shala Darpan, PSP for private schools on the private school portal. |

| Exam | 19 February to 4 March 2026 |
| Result | 24 March 2026 |

| 2027 application | 24 September to 21 October 2026, extended to 3 November 2026 |
NDTV reports that the board did not continue the earlier automatic-promotion practice in 2026 and that students had to score at least 33 per cent. We could not match that to an official circular, so read it as a report. Since the pass rate was 97.01 per cent, the practical effect was small for most families.

24 March 2026, at about 1:00 PM, at a press conference in Ajmer. The Shala Darpan result page is dated 24-03-2026. See RBSE 8th ka result kab aayega for earlier years.
Where can I check the 8th class result 2026?

What is the pass percentage of Rajasthan board 8th class 2026?
97.01 per cent. Of 12,86,220 registered students, 12,45,735 passed, and 38,276 (2.98 per cent) went to the supplementary category (Indian Express, Times of India).

At least 33 per cent in each subject (Times of India). The result is shown as grades A to E, and E means supplementary.
What is a supplementary result in the 8th class?
Students with an E grade sit another exam. In 2026 a third-party guide says it was held from 20 to 25 July, and the portal has a separate Supplementary Exam Result link.
Why is my 8th result not showing?
Common reasons are a wrong roll number, a wrong district, application number or school code, or a withheld result (2,209 in Class 8 in 2026). See RBSE 8th result by roll number for fixes.
Is the online 8th marksheet original?
No. The Indian Express says the online result is a provisional scorecard and the original marksheet is issued by the board and distributed through schools.

Yes. 2026: 24 March. 2025: 26 May. 2024: 30 May. 2023: 17 May.
