Can we do BSTC private? You can study BSTC (D.El.Ed) in a private college, which holds most seats, but you cannot join without the entrance exam, and there is no private or home-study route for a fresh Class 12 candidate that we could verify. Admission is through the VMOU exam and counselling. This page explains the rules and how to spot fake offers.

What does “BSTC private” mean?
Students use the phrase in three ways. They may mean a private college, a private candidate (home study with exams only) or no entrance test through a private institute. The answers are different, so we treat them one by one.

The numbers come from an independent mirror of the portal’s list (see BSTC college list Rajasthan), and the total of 25,920 differs slightly from the 25,970 seats reported by the news. Private colleges are therefore the normal route for most students. The seat still comes through ranks and counselling: see BSTC counselling 2026.
Can I do BSTC without an entrance exam?
The VMOU Pre D.El.Ed 2026 general directions say that admission to the D.El.Ed course is through the university, and that institutes cannot admit students themselves. They also say the qualification must meet NCTE norms and that no institute can admit students on its own. So a “management quota” or “direct admission” offer does not fit the official process.
There is one real “no entrance exam” route, but it is a different course: the D.Ed. in Special Education run through NBER (RCI), on merit only. Read Special BSTC 2026.
BSTC by distance, correspondence or as a private candidate
We looked for an NCTE-recognised distance or private route for a fresh Class 12 candidate and found none that we could verify. The NIOS (open schooling) D.El.Ed was an 18-month, one-time programme for untrained in-service teachers appointed by 10 August 2017 and meant to finish before 1 April 2019; reports of the Supreme Court judgments say fresh candidates were not eligible. We did not open the judgment text, and we could not read the IGNOU notice, so we do not make claims about IGNOU.
Ask for proof
If a site offers “BSTC without college”, ask for the NCTE recognition order and the university approval for that exact course, and verify it on the official site. If they cannot show it, do not pay.
How to check a private BSTC college
- It appears in the official counselling list for the year. See BSTC college list Rajasthan for the district-wise list.
- It has an NCTE recognition order for D.El.Ed and the current intake.
- It gives a written fee receipt. Our fee guide: BSTC fees.
- It does not ask for cash for a seat.
- You saw the building and the teaching staff before paying anything beyond the counselling fees.

- “Pay now to block your seat before counselling”
- “BSTC in 6 months by correspondence”
- “Management quota seats”

BSTC private FAQs
Can we do BSTC private?
You can do BSTC (D.El.Ed) in a private college, and most seats are in private institutes. But you cannot join as a private or home-study candidate, and you cannot skip the entrance exam. Admission is through the Pre D.El.Ed exam and university counselling.
Can I do BSTC without an entrance exam?
For the normal Rajasthan D.El.Ed, no. The 2026 notification says admissions go through the university, and no institute can admit on its own. The only “no exam” route we found is a different course, the special-education diploma through NBER. See Special BSTC 2026.
Is BSTC private college valid?
A private college is valid if it is NCTE-recognised and is on the list used in the university counselling. The 2026 college list we reviewed had 342 private institutions with 24,170 seats and 37 government institutions with 1,750 seats. See BSTC college list Rajasthan.
Can I do BSTC through distance education?
We did not find an NCTE-recognised distance route for a fresh Class 12 candidate in Rajasthan. The NIOS D.El.Ed was a one-time programme for untrained in-service teachers, and reports of the Supreme Court rulings say fresh candidates were not eligible. Treat any site that offers BSTC by correspondence as a risk and ask for the NCTE recognition proof.
Is there a management quota or direct admission in BSTC?
The notification we read gives only reservation rules and says admission is made through the university. We found no management or direct quota. Anyone who sells a seat is not part of the official process.
How many BSTC seats are in private colleges?
In the 2026 college list we reviewed, private institutions hold 24,170 of 25,920 seats, about 93 per cent. The list is from an independent mirror of the portal, so use the official list for your final choice.
Can a private college admit students on its own?
No. The notification says admission is through the university, and no institute can admit students on its own.
Do private BSTC college fees differ?
Yes, and we did not find an official fee list. Read BSTC fees for what is verified.
Is BSTC from an unrecognised college valid for jobs?
Teacher recruitment rules ask for an NCTE-standard qualification. If the college is not recognised, the diploma may not count. Check recognition before you pay.
