B General Awareness of Rajasthan 50 150
C Teaching Aptitude 50 150

Quick answer

The BSTC 2026 syllabus is the VMOU Pre D.El.Ed syllabus: four parts, 200 questions, 600 marks and three hours. The Indian Express reported that the exam was offline, 3 marks per correct answer, no negative marking, in Hindi and English.

Weightage and time per question

Section Share of marks Questions Marks
Mental Ability 25% 50 150
General Awareness of Rajasthan 25% 50 150
Teaching Aptitude 25% 50 150
English 10% 20 60
Hindi or Sanskrit 15% 30 90

Three hours for 200 questions is 54 seconds a question on average. The first three sections are worth 150 marks each, so one weak section can cost you up to 150 marks, which is a quarter of the paper.

The percentages are our arithmetic from the official marks.

Exam pattern at a glance

Mode Offline (pen and paper, OMR-style answer sheet)
Duration Three hours
Questions 200 multiple-choice questions
Marking 3 marks per correct answer; no negative marking
Medium Hindi and English (Indian Express, 14 May 2026)
2026 shifts Two shifts on 20 May 2026: 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

With no negative marking, every question should be answered. A blank is a lost chance of 3 marks.

What your target means in questions

Because each correct answer is worth 3 marks, you can turn a target score into a number of correct answers. This is our arithmetic.

Target score Correct answers needed Per 40 questions
300 (General qualifying) 100 About 20 of every 40 questions
270 (reserved qualifying) 90 About 18 of every 40
360 120 About 24 of every 40
420 140 About 28 of every 40
480 160 About 32 of every 40
540 180 About 36 of every 40

The topper’s 552.6076 in 2026 shows that very high scores are possible. For what scores have meant for seats, read BSTC cut off 2026.

Mental Ability (50 questions, 150 marks)

Official topics: Reasoning, Analogy (partial similarity or likeness between two things), Discrimination, Relationship, Analysis and Logical Thinking.

Official topic Types to practise (our examples) How to practise
Reasoning Series and sequence puzzles, coding and decoding, direction sense Make a rule sheet; write the rule before you pick an option
Analogy Word, number and letter pairs Name the relation in one line first
Discrimination Odd one out, pattern spotting Group by property before you compare
Relationship Blood relations, ranking, arrangement Draw a small tree or line diagram
Analysis and logical thinking Statements and conclusions, simple inference Underline what is given, not what you believe

The middle column is our practice list. The first column is the official syllabus.

General Awareness of Rajasthan (50 questions, 150 marks)

The official syllabus lists eight aspects of Rajasthan:

Official aspect What to read (our examples)
Historical Dynasties, forts, battles, freedom movement and rulers
Political Government, panchayati raj, districts and administration
Art, culture and literature Painting schools, music, dance, handicrafts, authors and works
Economic Agriculture, minerals, industry, schemes
Geographical Rivers, lakes, desert, climate, soil, national parks
Folk life Fairs, festivals, folk deities, folk songs and dances
Social Communities, customs, social reform
Tourism Palaces, forts, sanctuaries, circuits

The questions are about the state, so the best material is a Rajasthan-focused book or the state school textbooks plus one current-affairs source for the last year.

Which one do I solve?

How to split the three hours

Rajasthan awareness 50 25 minutes
Teaching Aptitude 50 40 minutes
English 20 20 minutes

The plan adds up to 180 minutes. It is a practice suggestion; change it after your first mock if one part needs more time.

12-week study plan for the BSTC syllabus

This plan is our suggestion. It assumes 3 to 4 hours a day and uses old papers for practice. Adjust it after your first mock.

Weeks Focus Output
1 to 2 Read the full syllabus; start Mental Ability basics and English grammar Make a topic checklist
3 to 4 Teaching Aptitude concepts; Hindi or Sanskrit grammar Daily 20 questions per section
5 to 6 Rajasthan awareness: history, geography, culture One revision sheet per aspect
7 to 8 Rajasthan economy, tourism, folk life; mixed sets Section-wise timed tests
9 to 10 Solve full papers under exam conditions Use our BSTC paper 2017 with free PDF and answer key
11 to 12 Revise the mistake log; weak sections first Two mocks a week

Past papers help you see the real wording. Start from the old BSTC paper hub and use our 2017 page for a free, full-length paper.

Practise the syllabus with real papers

The fastest way to learn what the syllabus means is to solve real papers. Each year page on our site lists the pattern, the official sources and a practice plan, and our BSTC paper 2017 with free PDF and answer key gives all 200 questions as a free PDF with an unofficial answer key, so you can time yourself.

Other years are on the old BSTC paper hub: 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Solve one full paper every few days in the last four weeks, then match your mistakes to the topics above. Where you keep losing marks is where you should revise.

Where to get the official BSTC syllabus PDF

The official syllabus is published for each cycle on the exam portal. For 2026 that is predeledraj2026.com; VMOU also lists the programme on its PRE.D.EL.ED 2026 page. We read the 2026 PDF (the file is dated December 2025) and the 2025 PDF. Both list the same five parts and topics.

Use the official copy

Many sites host their own copy of the PDF with ads and sometimes with edited text. Download the file from the official portal and compare it with this page.

Common mistakes with the BSTC syllabus

  • Ignoring the 30 language marks: Hindi or Sanskrit is quick to score if you revise grammar rules.
  • Studying only Rajasthan GK: it is 150 marks, the same as Mental Ability.
  • Using the 2027 “syllabus” articles that circulate before any notice: no 2027 syllabus has been released.
  • Never timing yourself: 54 seconds per question is tight.
  • Skipping Teaching Aptitude because it feels like common sense.

Mental Ability, Rajasthan awareness and Teaching Aptitude carry 150 marks each. Language Ability carries 150 marks: 60 for English and 90 for Hindi or Sanskrit.

Which language paper do I solve, Hindi or Sanskrit?

The official syllabus says Hindi is for candidates of the D.El.Ed (General) course and Sanskrit is for candidates of the D.El.Ed (Sanskrit) course. In the 2017 and 2018 papers, candidates who applied for both courses had to solve the Sanskrit part. Read the current notice before you decide.

Is the BSTC 2026 syllabus different from 2025?

We compared the English text of the 2025 and 2026 syllabus PDFs and found the same five parts, the same question counts and the same topic lists.

Where can I download the BSTC syllabus PDF?

Download it from the official portal predeledraj2026.com or from the VMOU page for the exam. Copies on other sites are not official. We do not host the PDF, but this page reproduces the topics.

No. As of 3 November 2026 there is no 2027 notification. Use the 2026 syllabus to start, then check the official notice when it appears.
